The cause is called Soles4Souls. This is an non for profit organizations that can help people around the world down to the people in your back yard. They collect new or slightly used shoes, clean them up, and then grade them “A”, “B”, or “C”.
“A” shoes go to natural disaster victims all around the world. This organization helped people who were victims of Hurricane Katrina by giving people shoes who needed them, who had nothing left. The shoes that are graded “B” and “C” are fixed up and given to people in third world countries. These people then turn around and sell the shoes to make a profit/living for themselves and their families. Their philosophy is “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime.”
As a CrossFit community we are known to give back to people in need no matter where or who they are. Our Crossfit Naptown collection started Friday, February 1st and will run the entire month of February, ending Thursday February 28th. There is a collection box where you can donate your shoes located by the table with the Reebok shoes and Progenex.
THE BEST PART… WE WILL TAKE ANY TYPE OF SHOES as long as they don’t have holes or are broken, etc. This will be a great event to help us clean out our shoes of what we don’t really need and give to someone who really does need.
Recap:
What- Soles4Souls shoe drive! We will take any type of lightly used shoes, if you are not sure if your shoes will work…bring them anyways.
When- Friday Feb 1st until Thursday Feb 28th. The donation box will be at Crossfit NapTown for the whole month so tell your friends and family and bring all the shoes you can!
Where- Crossfit NapTown. The donation box will be located by the yoga room where the table of shoes and Progenex are.
Why- To bring light to a new cause! And to clean out your closet of what you don’t need and give it to someone in need. Let’s start the year off right
How- Just bring any and all lightly used shoes into Crossfit NapTown and put them in the donation box. Get a personal goal and see how many shoes you really can donate and live without.
Our Goal for this event is 400 pairs of shoes. I would love if we could destroy this goal with way more shoes!

Dang it! Just checked the archived time from April last year and my 5k time today was 1 minute slower. Terrible! Need to learn how to pace better. Where’s Jen Kaido when you need her?
24:28.3
24.41 for Rowing I think this is three mins better than when I did it in August (right after starting) and then 65# for strict press….this isn’t moving much, but I’m still trying!
OMG cracking up!
because i’m very bored at work & i have always wondered that very thing myself, i looked it up. according to the urban dictionary:
balls to the wall-
term used by pilots. when accelerating quickly, the throttle is pushed all the way to the panel and the throttle lever (ball) actually touches the panel (wall). hence, balls to the wall.
strict presses are no fun, but they make you stronger. keep up the good work!
5k row- 19:33.1
Strict Press- 165 (PR)
Pretty certain 5K was PR by about 30 seconds. Will look to break into 18 min range next time out
